InkdragonCreations pulled up an old picture from my gallery a few months ago and told me how much she still loved it. It featured one of her characters, Echidna, at a much younger age, protecting a stray kitten from the rain with an umbrella.
As I looked at it, yeah it was old and I could see many flaws, yet there was something about it that was still appealing. Ink mentioned how she'd like an updated version. So, here it is.
This is that picture 2.0. It's the a newer version, yet it it a continuation also. This is Echidna, sheltering the same cat, but now they are both older. I don't know whether she would continue to visit the kitten or not, but the thought was nice.
With this one, I kept the same background and textures that were used in the previous one (though I think I improved them), but with this one, there are a few slightly differences as well, aside from them being older.
In this version, the cat is no long small and weak, but is sitting beside her under the umbrella, so she is no longer protecting something helpless, but is protecting both of them from the rain. To me this shows that Echidna has grown up and no longer sacrifices her needs to help someone else, but has figured out a way to help both herself and a friend, at the same time.
Also, in the old version, her expression is rather bland, as if there was no thought for herself at all, where as, this new one, she is looking up, with more confidence, yet there are tears in her eyes, whether from her own concerns, or from her own strength, is up to you to decide.
Also, in this one, there is a dark ally by her, and if you'll notice, there is a slight silhouette of a person standing there, with what appears to be stars on their clothes. This is Phantom, Echidna's protector. Unlike the old version, where it was just her and she had to figure everything out alone, in this one, he is near her, because he will do whatever it takes to protect her, yet he also tends to stay in the background and let her rely on herself before he steps in, but she always knows she just has to ask and he'll be there.
Thus, the title, Sheltering You, works all the way, because Echidna is sheltering a friend, and she has a friend sheltering her, even from a distance.

This is so amazing! Her expression is deep and I love how much you have improved from the original piece (which was great to begin with)! It makes me want to draw her! Great job, as always!
